Aylesford Lake Beach

Open: July 1 - September 2

A municipal beach park. Exit 13 off Hwy 101, south 5 km (3 mi) to English Mountain Rd, right for 1.5 km (1 mi) then left at Aylesford Lake sign. Proceed 17 km (10.5 mi) to beach turnoff. Aylesford Lake Beach features a boardwalk, parking lot, picnic tables, a public boat launch, boat docks, canteen, change houses, drinking water, clean portable washrooms, an open grass field, walking trails and playgrounds.

Bayfield Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

Bayfield Beach Provincial Park is a small popular beach on St. Georges Bay, near Antigonish. From Antigonish, take Highway 104 East. Turn left onto summerside Rd, then left onto Bayfield Beach Road. Bayfield Beach features change-houses, toilets, and a parking lot. Across the road from the beach is a small picnic park. Baysfield Beach's supervised swimming area is marked by red and yellow flags on either side of the beach, and red buoys in the water. It is generally about 200 metres in width, but can vary depending on beach conditions.

Bayswater Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

Located off Highway 339 (from Exit 6 off Highway 103), between Aspotogan and Blanford. Bayswater Beach features a picnic area, outdoor barbecue pits, change rooms and toilets, and of course the beautiful South Shore scenery.

Clam Harbour Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

Take Highway 107-E, continue on Marine Drive and turn right onto Clam Harbour Road. Slight right onto Beach Rd, then first left onto Stoddard Ln. Clam Harbour Beach's features a large picnic area, male/female flush toilets, male/female change rooms, an interpretive centre, board walks and hiking trails.

Dollar Lake Beach

Open: May 15 - October 12

Situated on a large lake 27 km (17 mi) north of Musquodoboit Harbour. To get to Dollar Lake provincial park from Halifax, take Highway 102 to exit 5A. After exiting the highway take the first left, and then the first right onto the Old Guysborough road. Follow this road for 20km and the beach will be on the right. Dollar Lake Beach features include three camping loops, a boat launch, forest trails, a canteen, washrooms, change houses, outdoor showers, picnic areas and a small island to the left of the beach.

Dominion Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

From Halifax, take Barrington St, Angus L. Macdonald Bridge/Macdonald Bridge and Woodland Ave to NS-118 N in Dartmouth Follow NS-102 to NS-104/Trans-Canada Hwy in Antigonish, Subd. A Get on NS-125 E in Sydney River from NS-104/Trans-Canada Hwy and NS-4 E then merge onto NS-125 E Continue on Grand Lake Rd/NS-4 E. Drive to Seaside Dr in Dominion. Turn right onto Grand Lake Rd/NS-4 E. Turn left onto Gardiner Rd (signs for Gardiner Mines/Dominion/New Waterford). Turn right onto Seaside Dr (signs for Nova Scotia Trunk 28 E/Dominion/Glace Bay). Beach will be on the left. Dominion Beach features a large change house that includes showers, flush toilets, and abundant parking.

Heather Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

Heather Beach is located 40 km southeast of Amherst on the Sunrise Trail, approximately 12 km north of Pugwash. Heather beach features change rooms, outhouses and two taps.

Ingonish Beach

Open: July 1 - August 31

Civic Address: 90 Beach Rd., Ingonish The Park stretches across the northern tip of Cape Breton Island between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Atlantic Ocean. Entrances to the Park are located on the Cabot Trail north of Cheticamp (west side of the Island) and at Ingonish Beach (east). If travelling from the Canso Causeway, you can either take Trans Canada Highway 105 to just outside Baddeck and follow the Cabot Trail north to Margaree Forks and Cheticamp. Or follow Route 19 (the Ceilidh Trail) along the west coast of Cape Breton Island to Margaree Forks. Then follow the Cabot Trail to Cheticamp. Driving time for either route is 2.5 hours. If driving from Sydney, take Route 125 to TransCanada Highway 105. Then take the Cabot Trail at the Englishtown ferry or at South Gut St. Ann's to Ingonish Beach. Driving time is two hours. Ingonish Beach features washrooms, change houses, playground, picnic area, tennis courts, a track and soccer field, as well as hiking trails. There is also a canteen open during the summer months.

Lawrencetown Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

From Dartmouth, head southeast toward Portland St, turn left onto Portland St, continue onto Cole Harbour Rd/NS-207 E. Continue to follow NS-207 E, beach will be on the right. Lawrencetown Beach features change houses, cold showers, flush toilets, abundant parking, and boardwalks.

Martinique Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

From Halifax take either Highway 107 or 207 to Musquodoboit Harbour and turn right onto East Petpeswick Road. Martinique Beach features a picnic area, change houses and outdoor washrooms. It is also a protected area for the piping plover, and a wildlife refuge.

Mavillette Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

From Yarmouth, take the Harvest Highway-101 East towards Clare. Take exit 32, left on Hectamooga Rd, continue onto Salmon River Rd. Turn right onto Evangeline Trail then left on John Doucette Road. Mavillette Beach features outdoor change houses, toilets, a parking area and boardwalks to access the beach. There is also a restaurant and motel nearby.

Melmerby Beach

Open: May 20 - October 10

Take exit 27 off Highway 104 and travel approximately 3 kilometers. Turn right onto Woodburn Road and travel approximately 5 kilometers. Turn right onto Highway 289 and travel approximately 3 kilometers to Melmerby Beach Provincial Park. Melmerby Beach features two main change houses, showers, flush toilets, outdoor cold water, and abundant parking.

Mira Gut Beach

Open: July 1 - August 25

Coming from Sydney, Mira Gut Beach is located off the Highway 255, the Marconi Trail. Mira Gut Beach features outdoor washrooms and change rooms, a boardwalk and occasionally a mobile canteen on site.

Point Michaud

Open: May 20 - Oct 10

Approximately 20 kms from the village of St. Peter's along route 247 (Point Michaud Road). oint Michaud Beach features a boardwalk, change houses, toilets, and parking are available. There is also a picnic area to the left of the beach.

Pomquet Beach

Open: May 20 - Oct 10

Pomquet Beach Provincial Park is located north east of Antigonish off Highway 104 through the Village of Pomquet. Pomquet Beach features include a boardwalk, changehouses, and washrooms.

Port Hood Beach

Open: July 1 - August 25

Port Hood Beach is located within the town of Port Hood, downhill from the Court House. Port Hood Beach features access to washrooms at this beach.

Port Maitland Beach

Open: May 20 - Oct 10

From Yarmouth, take the Evangeline Trail Highway 1-East. Turn left onto Main Shore Rd, turn right and then slight left. One more right until destination. Port Maitland Beach features outhouses, change houses, a picnic area and running water.

Queensland Beach

Open: May 20 - Oct 10

Head west on St Margarets Bay Rd/Nova Scotia Trunk 3 W toward Conards Other. Beach will be on the left. Queensland Beach features change rooms, outhouses, and a 300m beach area.

Rainbow Haven Beach

Open: May 20 - Oct 10

Rainbow Haven Beach is located 8km east of Cow Bay. The beach may be reached by turning onto Bissett Road from Portland Street in Cole Harbor. The Provincial Park entrance is the next right after turning left at the end of Bissett Road. Rainbow Haven Beach features change houses, cold water outdoor showers, flush toilets, abundant parking, and boardwalks which permit wheelchair access to the beach.

Rissers Beach

Open: May 15 - October 11

Rissers Beach is located on the South Shore approximately 25 kilometres south of Bridgewater on highway 331. It is located on the Atlantic Coast in Green Bay at the mouth of the Petite Riviere. Rissers Beach features over 90 campsites, canteen, boardwalk, interpretation building, lifeguard shack, change rooms, washroom facilities and a large parking lot.
